In My Own Words:
Tyeve Arkham was born in a trunk, after which soon followed his mother's death and his father's inebriation. Mr Arkham became world famous in Hines Creek, where he was known as something of a character. Unfortunately that character was Dopey, one of the seven dwarves. Mr Arkham plans to chronicle the details of his remarkable life as soon as he is released from the detox unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Boxed Set Ever, Sept. 29 2013
Criterion has outdone themselves with this wonderful collection of four of Agnes Varda's films. The transfers are near-miraculous, as you would expect from Criterion. But, what really sets this... set apart are the details.

Let's start with the box itself. The matte finish, fonts, photos are beautifully wrought. Take a peek inside the box and you'll find photos reproduced on the INSIDE, where you can only get a peek at them. Each DVD case is similarly wonderful.

The written material is a thoughtful introduction to and examination of Varda's oeuvre. The special features included on each disc are great complements to the films themselves.

It's hard to believe that Amazon is still listing this given the reviews that tell us this DOES NOT PLAY in North America. Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews before I bought this from an Amazon Seller.

But here's the kicker. Right on the box is says that Disc Two is for Regions 2 & 4. Why, oh why, is this being sold here? The Amazon Seller, by the way, had no idea what they were talking about and kept insisting that the disc would play on our continent… Read more

The idea was great, a fine cast was assembled, but nobody seemed to notice that the script was a shipwreck. The story meanders among characters on and off the boat, never focusing anywhere. "How are we going to end this thing?" I imagine the writer/director asking. Clearly harking back to his favourite James Cameron movie he answers his own question: "I know, we'll sink the ship and strand the cast at the top of it as it settles into the North Sea! God, I'm brilliant!"

While nothing ties together in the story (and in fact, manages to be pretty irritating most of the time), there are a couple of brilliant turns. Philip Seymour Hoffman was born to play these roles and he is… Read more
