Schaum's Outline of Probability, Random Variables,&hellip by Hwei Hsu
Probability is a hard subject to understand for many and I am no exception. There is no one book that can present the subject matter in clear and precise way. This Schaum's outline as the title suggests is a good outline. It sums up the various topics and like other Schaum's texts solves a huge number of relevent problems. But it cannot be used as a substitute for a text. I cannot suggest any one text (Papoulis, Garcia, Gharamani etc.)either because I haven't found a satisfactory one so far. I have taken probability at different levels of education and the one thing that I have come to realize is that an understanding of the subject only develops over time. There is no magic solution except… Read more
Schaum's Outline of Partial Differential Equations by Paul DuChateau
1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Outline, June 14 2002
This book in the Outline series is a bad one.Too much terminology and very little explanation.Besides the book lacks flow unlike others in the Oultine series.PDEs are best explained taking physical examples such as heat flow & vibrations before branching off into rigorours math. In fact, the history (Fourier's Law, Laplace Eqn.) of PDEs is clearly intertwined with phyical phenomena such as heat flow etc. The book just brushes the surface in these areas. As consequence it makes to difficult for the average student to follow and make the connection. I would suggest Elementary Applied Partial Differential Equations With Fourier Series and Boundary Value Problems (3rd Edition)by Richard… Read more
Class DVD ~ Jacqueline Bisset
Class DVD ~ Jacqueline Bisset
4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun., May 24 2002
Class is really class. A bit of comedy, a bit of sexual fantasy and the fun & pressure of studying in a high class prep school are beautifully interwoven. I like the ending when the guys laugh off thier stupidity. Jackie Bisset is gorgeous as usual. I've liked this movie ever since the first time I saw it.
