The Ghost of Lunenburg Manor by Eric Wilson
This is my favourite so far by the author of long-running Canadian mysteries. As if certain I would love it, "The Ghost Of Lunenburg Manor" came up in my research about Nova Scotia last year. Noticing that Eric Wilson covered a whole slew of provinces, I gathered earlier releases in order. I've seen my share of Tom and favoured Liz Austen by the time I reached this novel that I bought first of all. Their dynamics are interesting together as brother and sister, with a smidgen of competition but mostly respect and collaboration. Although I despair any metaphysical title that does not bear fruit within, I delighted in this book from stem to stern.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly pleased., Jun 16 2013
I've been reading Eric Wilson's patriotic features in sequence. "The Kootenay Kidnapper" had me unexpectedly pleased. To put it plainly, I pegged it as a dud to knock off the list quickly. The Ghost of Ramshaw Castle by Robert Sutherland
I'm grateful to discover Canadian Robert Sutherland and wish his Sandy & David series were longer because he's made me a fan! Mislabelled as 'young adult', these have the feel of contemporary material. I deduced based on Ontario school graduation, that David was at least 19 in "Mystery At Black Rock Island". By this third volume he's surely 21 and the educated, composed Sandy at least the same. I also learned that Robert Sutherland strove for adult fiction. Publisher feedback predicated he'd be a smash for teens. It doesn't mean the protagonists are teens, for we often admire someone older than we are. I get the sense he merely toned down a few aspects, because it never feels like… Read more
