I have listed to QR for a good many years and have everything they've released. I will admit to being disappointed with most of HINTNF and some of Q2k (tracks like Breakdown notwithstanding). I am happy to report that Tribe is certainly a step in the right direction. The influence of Chris DeGarmo is clearly heard on several tracks, which is a good thing. He really was the heart and soul of the band, in my opinion. The album starts with an absolute cracker, in "Open". Like most Transatlantic and Spock's Beard fans, I was somewhat saddened to learn that Neal Morse had not only left the band(s), but had quit the music business altogether. What a waste of someone so talented, thought I. Thus I greeted the arrival of Testimony with some anticipation. Needless to say I wasn't disappointed. The album is the very personal story of our erstwhile Mr Morse's journey through a spiritual crisis and his eventual discovery of religion. I am not a religious person, so the lyrics didn't always connect with me the way his other songs have, but I appreciate the honesty and genuine emotions put forward. As someone who has been working in the IT field some time and a keen student of history, I approached this book with some anticipation and curiosity. I am happy to report that not only was the "story" interesting but also very enlightening. The focus of this book is a historical account of the legendary Xerox technology centre called PARC and the people who worked there. The author has done a remarkable job in making the events of interest to the reader but also take you literally inside the organisation and the thought processes driving all manner of decisions.
