In My Own Words:
I am a youth pastor and a liberal in the sense that I am very open to new understandings and new ways of seeing things. I am particularly drawn to studying Christianity and the works of such scholars as John Dominic Crossan, Marcus Borg, and John Spong.

In a compact text, Tye provides a very helpful overview of the basic building blocks of Christian education, as she sees them. In addition, she introduces the reader to several other prominent writers and theologians working in the field. This book would be an excellent resource for those seeking to be more intentional about their work in Christian education, or for those leading a workshop, training, or study on Christian education.

If you are ready to take the bold step to let youth lead the worship in your youth ministry (rather than just being spectators while adults "run the show") then you will find this text very useful. It contains ideas for helping youth create their own liturgy, write prayers, take part in communion, and find creative ways to participate actively in their own worship experiences using art, music, hands-on activities, and other learning styles, all while taking the act of worship seriously.
