In My Own Words:
A run of the mill American who is lucky enough to have a wonderful wife and young daughter. I've traveled throughout Europe and Asia as well as all over North America, and resided in a number of East Coast cities as well as in the South. Picked up a few degrees along the way as well. I'll watch any movie that has a midget in it (even a cameo), and I've been known to spend entire days in aquariu… Read more

The Rundown (Widescreen) DVD ~ Dwayne Johnson
The Rundown (Widescreen) DVD ~ Dwayne Johnson
Well, I wasn't expecting a great deal from this film. In fact, I probably wouldn't have seen it at all if it hadn't gotten surprisingly good reviews. The Rock was pretty forgettable in 'The Scorpion King', although not terrible, but he puts in a great performance here. Tasked with the retrieval of a wayward son, he ends up in a three (or four) way hunt for a mysterious golden idol, along the way enountering everything from homicidal gold miners to jungle rebels to packs of angry monkeys. It is one funny movie, and the action scenes are great. Most importantly, the cast has both charisma and quality, and the dialogue isn't nearly as stilted as you'd expect in a typical action film. Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition) DVD ~ Mark Hamill
This is the Star Wars Special Editions on DVD. Unlike typical Director's Cuts, the Special Editions include many altered original scenes rather than merely additional footage. In other words, these are not the original A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, or Return of the Jedi, although this is intentionally non-obvious from the packaging and marketing.

The original three Star Wars films are great. This marketing campaign is not. It is worth noting that aside from a few rare laserdiscs, Lucas has intentionally refused to release the original films in any permanent form. His attempts to pass off this DVD set as the original is vile enough, but also merely assures in a few years that he… Read more

This movie goes way off the unintentional comedy scale. A rag-tag group of survivors, containing every possible patented Hollywood character, from the dignified elderly to the know-it-all WASP and the fiesty token minority, are subjected to a truly hilarious disaster that makes the Poseidon Adventure look like Citizen Kane. My favorite part of this film is the invincible dog. You can always tell a Hollywood hackjob by the invincible dog, which always survives everything and is, gosh, just so darn *cute* that you're supposed to get all weepy with relief when it survives through to the credits. A classic example is the golden retriever in Independence Day that, in an awe-inspiring display… Read more
