The first day I had my rescue dog he snapped at my 1-year-old daughter. I was contemplating sending him back, but someone suggested this book to help teach him "pack" behavior, i.e. that he is lower in the pack hierarchy than my daughter. It wasn't long before my daughter could safely do anything with him. I was also able to housebreak him, crate train him, and just make him a good dog based on the training techniques.

I can't believe I found it! This was one of my favorite books from when I was in kindergarten. I remember it well. I'm buying it for my 6-year-old daughter tonight.
I always give this book as a baby-shower gift to first time moms. All of them have thanked me later on. A few of them quit work because of it, though. Don't tell my boss :o
I like this book because he gives different options to solve problems. He doesn't demand that you do it his way, but "whatever way works best for you."
