Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris
3.0 out of 5 stars Just Like Your Mother..., July 12 2004
I can't quite catch where this book came from or where it was going - unlike other Sedaris books - this book is more like a collection of short stories and thoughts than a theme explored.
His mother is clearly a focus throughout the book - and the ways in which Sedaris related to his mother while she was alive. More, he seems to explore his understanding of her now that she is dead. Other books have allowed his father to lead as the "character" that was being studied. Sedaris seems to be looking at himself and seeing the things in him that are distinctly from his mother.
There is, as expected, that dry, almost painful humor that had me chuckling as I read along. It… Read more
Van Lear Rose ~ Loretta Lynn
Van Lear Rose ~ Loretta Lynn
This album has all of the energy and sound of an artist debut effort. It is fantastic.
From the opening song - VAN LEAR ROSE and the strong close on STORY OF MY LIFE - there is no flaw. This album carries itself with all the assurance and confidence that a woman of Lynn's and experience must posess.

But it is her duet with Jack White that is the proof of this album's… Read more
Final Cut [Import] DVD ~ Ray Winstone

5.0 out of 5 stars Finger Sandwiches..., April 17 2004
Jude Law. Nuff said.
But really - what a bizarrely made film. Man dies, and leaves behind a film documentary that he secretly taped of all his friends in their real and private moments. It his wish that they all watch the film together at the funeral.
And then the fun & chaos begin...
How carefully Sadie, Jude's widow, sits there studying each face in the room as each friend is revealed in their naked and raw moments. As each ugly truth is pranced on the screen for all to see.
But Sadie never gives anything away.
Ray Winstone (SEXY BEAST) taught me a whole slew of new Cockney curses.
