When I Was Cruel ~ Elvis Costello
When I Was Cruel ~ Elvis Costello
5.0 out of 5 stars Elvis Rocks!, June 4 2002
Perhaps Elvis's best "loud album", When I Was Cruel veers between melancholic, brooding atmospheric tunes like 'when I was cruel #2' and raucous frolic rock such as '45'and 'daddy can I turn this' with such passion and intent that it's hard to believe this man is in his 50's. It has more youth and vigour than any rock band you will hear on the radio today. The songs are all catchy and the hook's strong. Let me stress that this is no generous review in lip service to a seminal and aging artist, no Oscar to Jack Pallance, no this is trully a classic album.
