Sir Thursday: Keys to the Kingdom Book 4 by Garth Nix
Another amazing read from Garth Nix's excellent Keys to the Kingdom series.

Just barely recovered from his battle on the Border Sea, Arthur is suddenly conscripted to be part of the Glorious Army of the Architect as one of Sir Thursday's new recruits. Additionally, he is now trapped in the House since a Nithling has taken over his life back on Earth and is taking over the minds of his family and friends.

The story follows Arthur as he goes undercover in the army, as well as Leaf who is charged with defeating the Nithling on Earth which has now become both a war and a biohazard zone.

The Fairy Godmother: A Tale of the Five Hundred by Mercedes Lackey
This is a fun, light book for those who want to escape reality for a spell. We have a spunky heroine, a prince who initially makes a donkey of himself, a house that expands, and magic galore. Whenever I need something to put me in a good mood, I take out my copy and re-read this "failed" Cinderella's journey to becoming a Fairy Godmother.

And for longtime fans... there's finally a sequel! Go look it up -- it's called "One Good Knight".

Life suddenly becomes more complicated when a dragon shows up and starts ravaging the countryside, and soon Andie finds herself torn from her comfortable library and forced into the midst of an adventure to save her kingdom.

This was definitely a fun, light read. It was an entertaining but not… Read more
