Julie Roberts ~ Julie Roberts
Julie Roberts ~ Julie Roberts
With this debut album, Julie Roberts has positioned herself as a force to be reckoned with as she'll giggle to the bank. At first I thought she was a little Barbie doll fluffball they were promoting just like all the other Nashville glossy wanna-be's. But after hearing this CD - uh.....WRONG! This girl sings like a seasoned 40 year old who has lived life and got her heartbroke. Her phrasing and twang don't even sound like Nashville or like she's trying to copy anybody or be formulatic in her production. Simple Things ~ Amy Grant

Yes, there are only 10 songs on this CD - but only 5 are worth the purchase of the CD. First the good stuff: 'Happy' sounds like a Sheryl Crow 'Soak up the Sun' cut. 'Eye to Eye' sounds like something from a huge Womyns Festival in Michagen - nice sentiment and cool. 'Out in the Open' has a great chorus and message. 'Looking for You' is cool - right outta Melissa Etheridge's 'Skin'. Now - the best song on the WHOLE CD is "Beautiful" A duet with Vince. It is so fabulous! I mean - seriously - I'm talking country music airplay. Funny thing - Amy didn't even write this one.
I think Amy would have done better to have chosen songs written by other people for the last 5… Read more
