Joyous Health: Eat and Live Well without Dieting by Joy McCarthy
4.0 out of 5 stars A Fresh Look At Food, Feb. 7 2014
McCarthy offers healthy eating - good advice supported by her own research and recipes that are tasty and easily prepared. It's not a restrictive sort of book full of forbidden foods, but a guide towards better ways of choosing and preparing meals. Illusstrations are very attractive.

The acting is superb. Plots are not over-simplified as too often found in detective stories.Dialogue is full of interesting exchanges between the 2 detectives, and it is worth seeing these episodes many times, as you miss some of the interesting small touches and verbal exchanges if you view only once. Personalities are very well developed. Gently is old and wise whereas Bacchus is full of prejudices and immature attitudes. However, viewers do not feel "preached" to by Gently. The series shows the '60s as they were in the U.K. and most of the west. We have an interesting look back in comparison with attitudes of our present time.

I have reread this children's book and find that, as an adult, I enjoy and appreciate the beautiful language and the thoughtful story even more now! A child may see it as a delightful adventure, and an adult will bask in its eloquent language and lovely illustrations.
