This book is beautiful, moving and important. It's that unique kind of book that touches the adult reader, yet never loses sight of the child listener - the book's true audience and the one who feels the true depth of the story's impact.

A fun story about letters and the magical things they can do. I love this book as it's not didactic but, rather, it teaches kids through their sheer engagement with Gabby and her dilemma when all of the letters fall out of her book, leaving her with a cat and a bird and big trouble!
The art is engaging and textured in that way that serves to pull readers further into the book as they reach out to touch it and the 2 pages of extension activities provide fun ideas for kids to try at home or school. Terrific!

My favorite Kristin Butcher book so far. Dani is a well-drawn, engaging teenage protagonist. I was pulled into her story and found I couldn't put it down until I discovered how it all played out. Dani's unlikely summer adventure out west, her description of `rodeo life,' and her complicated relationship with her mother created for me an engaging and sympathetic character who stayed with me long after I put the book down.
