Like many a longtime Liz fan, I admit some trepidation concerning this new album. It's got such different production values than when she started that it's hard not to be nervous. Most old-line Liz fans consider her early lo-fi sound to be her hallmark. I've always thought it was (a) her sonwriting ability, and (b) her ability to find a 'groove' on a particular tune and just carry it to its logical musical conclusion. By the way, for those doubters, her songwriting abilities are still there, if transmuted and less intensely utilized this time around... just don't listen to tracks 5 and 6, trust me.
