In My Own Words:
I've loved listening to music since I was a kid. I grew up on '90s pop, now known as adult contemporary. I then discovered country music, which is what I listen to when I want to hear quality singing. I just started getting into dance pop. Dance pop is feel-good music that makes me happy. Blame it on the beat and a killer melody.

Up! ~ Shania Twain
Up! ~ Shania Twain
5.0 out of 5 stars It was worth the wait, Mar 12 2004
Shania releases this album 5 years after "Come on Over." It contains two discs for the price of one: red (pop version) and green (country version). The lyrics and singing are the exactly the same - the only difference is the music.

She uses the same formula in "Come on Over" for "Up!" Just like her previous album, the lyrics in "Up!" are quirky, fun, and simple. The music is...different and unique. She even continues to include exclamation points in the song titles. She and her husband saw that the method in their previous album worked wonders, so they decided to re-use the same formula for "Up!"

Fortunately, the formula still works, with even better results than the first time… Read more

Sittin' on Top of the World ~ Leann Rimes
1.0 out of 5 stars LeAnn's worst album, Mar 9 2004
I've listened to this album many times in hopes of liking it. But each time I heard it, I couldn't believe how bad it was. I agree that the songs are over-produced.

But it's not only that. What's happened to LeAnn's voice? It sounds so forced! Can you believe that? Gone is the effortless singing that she once had in "Blue." Now, she just forces the words out from her throat. Also, she is known for having a "break" in her voice. But when she sings the title line of "Feels like home," she ovedoes the break and it sounds too forced. She does that a lot.

And what was she thinking when she wanted to cover Jann Arden's "Insensitive"?? Her version is horrible. She hits the word… Read more

Blue ~ Leann Rimes
Blue ~ Leann Rimes
Wow, this album blew me away. I am in awe of LeAnn's vocal talent. This girl has IT. This album is an unbelieveable work perfectly well-crafted to suit her voice.

What she can do with her voice is amazing, as she proves in the title song "Blue." "Hurt Me" is a painful ballad, and LeAnn delivers all the emotion of that song with her voice; the drawl she sings with expresses the lyrics precisely. "My Baby" is a mature song far beyond her 13 years but she handles that song like an experienced adult. I'm also impressed by her ability to sing softly and be convincing at it, which she is in "Honestly," "I'll Get Even with You," and "Fade to Blue."

No wonder LeAnn became a superstar… Read more
