Sam Torode has done a tremendous service to Christian thinkers (and anyone interested in Biblically-based philosophy, Christian or not) with his translation of Pope John Paul II's theology of the body into everyday English. The result is not dumbed-down or simplified. The people who publish the "Complete Idiot's Guide to..." books are not going to co-opt this title. Rather, Torode's translation yields clarity and aids in understanding. Marie Winn makes a compelling and convincing argument that TV addiction is drastically affecting our children's ability to learn. She is absolutely right. TV addiction is so overwhelmingly prevalent in this culture that living without TV is considered extreme deprivation. We can't so much as sit peacefully and quietly in a doctor or dentist's office waiting area -- the TV is everywhere. We Americans cannot function without it. Don't believe me? I have read all 11 books so far, but, I'm proud to say, have not spent a penny on any of them. All borrowed from friends or the library. It started out well enough, but as the series began to make money for the authors, the books began to get thinner and thinner and thinner. Now we have book 11. This book is so full of misogynist (that's anti-woman) propaganda that it's a JOKE! Chloe, the only female original member of the Trib Force, is "supposed" to be at home with her baby.
