Have read a number of biographies of Shakespeare & am very familiar with almost all the plays. This is a very sane book. There are many interesting facts from the perspective of a careful researcher and a careful writer. Although I was more awed by Greenblatt's Will in the World, this is a fine overview of many elements of the man and his time. I would especially recommend it for teachers and students of the plays.
