I was expecting a witty and insightful collection of b-movie reviews, with trivia, etc. What I got was a series of long-winded rehashing of the plots in way too much detail and little else. No behind the scenes information, trivia, anecdotes from those invloved (except for two or three from the same two or three people, tacked on at the end of the "review"). Personal anecdotes from the author peppered the "reviews", none of which added anything to the synopses, including wit or humor. The author's tone in his comments on Jeff Stryker (chapter on Zombie 4), and his dropping the word f*g in another, are the final insult. Disappointing and trivial. This set includes the original Prom Night, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, Prom Night III: The Last Kiss and Prom Night IV: Deliver Us From Evil. And that's IT! Literally...nothing else. The original Prom Night has a bit of camp value I suppose, as everything thing in this film is archetypal slasher convention (so much that is almost plays as a parody). At least Jamie Lee Curtis doesn't embarrass herself too much. Prom Night 2 and 3 are indicative of the Canadian genre flicks from the 80s (Canadian productions disguised as American, actors from various tv commercials and Canadian TV, Michael Ironside, minimal budget or creativity), and have nothing to do with the first. I must say… Read more
