Look, I love Christmas music. By almost anyone, from Perry Como and Frank Sinatra to Canned Heat and Jimmy Buffet. But not this one.
Archuleta seemed like he had a nice voice on American Idol, but over the length of an entire CD, you start to realize just how monotone and boring his voice really is. Everything on this disc is 'nice'. 'Nice' music, 'Nice' songs, all sung 'nicely', with 'nice' arrangements. Nice and Boring. AARRGGHH !!!! Really, it all sounds exactly the same, one song to the next. These are some of my favourite Christmas songs, or at least were. They still are, sung by almost anyone else.

This was the first album under their new name of the Five Man Electrical Band (formerly the Staccatos), and it shows well the versatility of the band. With 3 lead singers, and gorgeous 4-part harmonies, they created a sound similar to the Hollies or Beach Boys that was part pop, part rock, with a touch of country and psychedelia thrown in. Includes the Canadian hit singles 'Maple Lane', 'Didn't Know the Time', and 'Half-Past Midnight', which had won Record of the Year in Canada in 1967. The bonus songs added to the disc includes former Staccatos singles and B-sides never before available on album let alone CD,… Read more
