Hearts in Atlantis is an excellent film that pulls at your heart-strings and causes you to make parallels with your own childhood.

Anthony Hopkins does an excellent job in playing the mysterious character of Ted as well as the rest of the cast who round out this effecting tale of lost innocense and relationships lost.

I found the story to be quite interesting and it kept my attention throughout. I found the relationship between Ted and Bobby very moving and sad all at the same time.

Even if one is not a fan of Stephen King, give this one a shot. It is more along the lines of "The Green Mile" rather than an "It" or a "Dreamcatcher."

Absence of the Good DVD ~ Stephen Baldwin
Absence of the Good DVD ~ Stephen Baldwin
Absence of the Good is an above average movie in the serial killer genre that has a fairly clever script, good acting, and a strong lead (Stephen Baldwin).

The story centers around Detective Caleb Barnes (Stephen Baldwin) and his struggle to find a serial killer while trying to deal with the untimely death of his son. As the body count begins to climb Barnes finds himself trying to help his wife heal while remaining focused on the case. What follows is a well executed police drama with plenty of action and suspense throughout.

15 minutes is all it will take for the watcher to realize that this movie is something special. The premise of this movie is different from any other Cop/Crime drama that I have ever seen. Mainly the portrayal of the two villians who give both a halariously humorous performance but at the same time an extremely brutal and psychotic performance. Quite different.

Of course Robert De Niro is brilliant as always and Ed Burns isn't bad either. The stand out performance has to be with Kelsey Grammer who gives a drastically different performance leaving comedy behind to play a really despicable reporter who does some very unspeakable things in the name of news.

The social commentary is also… Read more
