My aim is to work in journalism really, either writing for the NEW YORK TIMES or ROLLING STONE. So these reviews, lists, etc. that I write are my way of preparation for what I hope will be the job I make my living out of. I may not be Pulitzer Prize material yet, but I welcome any suggestions & pointers to help work my way up to that level. I love to contact people I believe are doing a good job on here, so it would be even more gratifying to have the opposite happen to me. Politically, I'm a recently-converted liberal after having voted for Bush in 2000. He seemed like the man for the job at the time, and I admire how he got us through 9/11, but Iraq just totally soured me on him. I applaud the courage our men & women overseas are showing there, but I just think we are there for the wrong reasons & with the Democrats in the White House, we can probably get out of there quicker & with honor, too.
I can also be contacted at my other addresses, brand_new_person@yahoo.com or ekeyman88@aol.com

As Shirley went on to multiplatinum glories with Garbage, Angelfish's self-titled 1993 debut (and only album) still stands alone as its own singularly fine work. Stylistically, ANGELFISH leans more towards Garbage's 1995 self-titled debut with its more guitar-based rock… Read more

The 1980s are not known for being a stellar decade in Elton John's career. He was deep into substance abuse, and even while he was working with his top-notch lyricist Bernie Taupin, Bernie's own personal problems wreaked their own havoc on Elton's output, culminating in 1986's LEATHER JACKETS, widely acknowledged as Elton's absolute worst album. Apparently, the acclaimed LIVE IN AUSTRALIA album & tour awoke Elton to the gems of his earlier days, and that along with surgery done to remove throat sores was to help make 1988's REG STRIKES BACK his big splash back into the spotlight. However, these were just baby steps compared to the all-out triumphant return of 1992's THE ONE, Elton's… Read more

By now, George Michael's battles with the music industry & his bid to be taken seriously as an artist are a part of modern pop music legend. Sure, his solo albums have been years in the making, only this time, it wasn't legal reasons that kept him from returning to the stores, but mostly personal ones & just plain perfectionism. So is PATIENCE the best album to make a comeback? Not really, but it'll do just fine. 1. "Patience"---This brief ballad opens the album with lyrics that appear to be about both the importance of religion & why it is never there when we need it. George shows how far he has grown vocally in the last 2 decades. The reprise of the song that closes the British version… Read more
