Best Of ~ The J. Geils Band
Best Of ~ The J. Geils Band
A good single disc collection of their best work. They were a good live rock and roll band and some of the tracks here are live but are very good versions. The biggest hits have the studio versions (except "I Do" because the hit version was live).

I removed one star because although the remastered sound is good, it's too compressed and so it's somewhat loud and the full dynamics have been squished a bit.

They have at least 2 other single disc hits collections, each with less songs. This CD has the best tracks from both of those, IMO, but the other CD's are both older and so they probably do not have the remastered and compressed sound.
Criterion Collection: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Wo&hellip Blu-ray ~ Spencer Tracy
This is probably the best it's ever going to get for fans of this film. It's a box set with all the best available versions. Criterion does a wonderful job of remastering the film and gathering lots of bonus features together. It is pricey but you get a lot too, and you get it all on Bluray and on DVD as well. Here's a brief summary of what's included:

* A remastered 4K Bluray of the "general release version" which looks and sounds truly amazing. This Bluray is only available through this box set but hopefully it will be sold alone someday. There are several bonus features as well.

* A second remastered (but not 4K) Bluray of the 197-minute restored version… Read more
The Guardian (2006) [Blu-ray] (Bilingual) Blu-ray ~ Kevin Costner
There was a time back in the 1980's when Costner could do no wrong in Hollywood and all his films were huge successes. Films such as JFK, The Untouchables, and Dances With Wolves are truly great and deserve repeated viewings. Then he made a number of big budget flops (Waterworld, The Postman) which were panned by the critics and his career slowed down for a while. Looking back on those past films when he was a big box-office draw, not all of the popular films are equally great and not all of the unpopular films are bad.

Costner is a gifted actor and it's good to see him making good films again, even if they are not as popular as his past successes. The difference is that his… Read more
