I missed this movie in the theaters and I missed a great movie. I am very happy to see it come to DVD. The story on the surface is about a friendship between two inmates in Shawshenk Prison. Underneath that story is a story about perseverance, and hope. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman give stellar preformances here. The movie for me worked on so many levels, while it was criticized for being too long, I, didn't want it to end. I wanted to know what happened to these characters. The DVD transfer is great and I highly recomend this film for everyone. My only complaint is that it was not a special edition.
