Lance Buck Paul Smith has written a remarkable book that delivers wonderful values and relates them through everyday life while achieving a tone and style that is a delight to read (not to mention the pictures). I must confess that as a product of a math and science education I was not well-schooled in philosophy, and have been doing some "catch-up" of late. Smith offers a great place to start. From here, one could choose to move on to the classic works, and I will. But "Life Lessons" has staying power on its own, and many will find comfort here.
A great autobiography of a true and honest American, who's life story will inspire you. A book every young person should read. It is the true story of a man who started with very little, then after a lot hard work and perseverance, has become one of the wisest and most honorable persons to serve on our Supreme Court. History may show him to be one of the greatest Supreme Court Justices to ever serve in this land. For a good book of philosophy, I recommend Understanding: Train of Thought.
If you like historical fiction, this is a book you can get lost in. Don't let the thickness of it intimidate you because it doesn't seem that long while you're reading it. You'll be on the 900th page before you know it.
Being familiar with and a fan of other books by Ken Follett, I originally bought and read this book several years ago. I was absolutely knocked out and captivated by the story and read it in two settings.
