Natchez Burning by Greg Iles
Natchez Burning by Greg Iles
loved the book--as others have stated, it is long and even though you have to sleep sometime, it does make you want to get right back to it. Even more poignant for those of us who lived through that era and remember it for the black mark it was in our history. Great development of characters with believable defining precedents in their lives. I marveled at his skill in keeping me so involved in a nearly 800 page book. The disappointment was the ending--it almost seemed like he needed to wrap it up and while it was credible for all the rest of the novel, it took on a pace and incredulity of events that really was disappointing. It was such a good read before then--

5.0 out of 5 stars astounding book, Sept. 2 2013
truly one of the most well written and researched books I have read in years. It's a long slog, but absolutely worth it. He takes you on journeys thru disabilities, prodigies, children of rape, transgender, etc. His intimacies with people and their stories present the complete spectrum of possibilities of reaction to "different children". His interview with the Klebold parents is compelling, as actually is the whole book. It makes you examine and regroup your sense of normalcy. Don't miss it.
