Let's be honest. Any scholar of music which is studying 20th-century composition is the type of academic who already has access to a vast music library fill with interesting material. This compilation isn't necessary.
At best, this is a good used book for a pianist who wants some cheap Debussy material or a full copy of Elliot Carter's Piano Sonata.

It seems that many publishers through the 70s, 80s, and 90s made a business out of manufacturing texts for every university course available. Rarely did a publisher produce something truly remarkable; more often the publishers would produce mirror images of each others' libraries. This music theory text is nearly identical in form and substnace to all the others which fill university bookstores throughout North America and Europe. What I mean to suggest is that it's as good as any but not better than you might find in a used book store.

It is essential that young music scholars apply their knowledge in real musical settings. The best music theorists have honed their skill with pencil and paper and page after page of exercises -- this text is full of such exercises.
I have suggested to students that this workbook, along with regular doses of good information online, is a sure way towards musical excellence.
