Bramwell Series 3 VHS ~ Jemma Redgrave
Bramwell Series 3 VHS ~ Jemma Redgrave
Bramwell is one of the best series to have ever been aired on television for what might at first glance seem to be a trivial reason--its protaganist is a well-rounded, entirely admirable yet flawed, capable, intelligent, insistent, compassionate, and attractive young woman. Good women are hard to find in television, and its even harder to find a female protaganist (whose show is named after her) who is not more interested in alcohol than food, sex than her career, fashion than family. I urge Acorn to release the entire Bramwell series on DVD. My local library has an incomplete video collection and I and my friends are eager to purchase the series for ourselves. 3.0 out of 5 stars Affectionate Warning, June 8 2004
I love Terry Pratchett novels and even more than that, I love having the chance to listen to them. This cassette edition is narrated by Tony Robinson, who played Baldrick in the Black Adder series; he does a lovely job and the novel is, of course, funny and original. However, I must warn you, it is abridged and that does detract from the delight of it. Anyone considering purchasing this might want to instead consider the audio versions of The Wee Free Men or The Night Watch, also available on this website for reasonable prices.

This film is delightfully campy, get it's also an intelligent attack on conservative anti-gay/anti-woman ideologies. If you liked "Bedrooms and Hallways," or "Kissing Jessica Stein," or "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," or even "Supersucker," this is the movie for you! The casting was perfect, the costumes and sets were both political and laugh-out-loud funny, and the plot...well, I've never seen anything like it...and perhaps the highest praise I can give it is this: this is a lesbian "chick flick" even a group of gay men would love! (...) This is a witty, well-made, well-acted film. It's an affirmation of what it is to be young, to be female, to be gay, to feel like an outcast--things we… Read more
