The first play I ever saw was Cyrano. I love this play so much. It pains me to have to give this performance a bad review - but I find it less painful than watching Jennifer Garner singlehandedly ruin my favorite play.
The character of Roxane is supposed to be charming, witty, and elegant. Garner's version of Roxane is loud, awkward, and over-the-top. How can somebody with a poetic soul fall for somebody like that? No...it just falls apart.
This really is a pity because Kevin Kline puts in a great performance as Cyrano.
I highly recommend Gerard Depardieu's Cyrano (a title you can get on Amazon.) Anne Brochet, now there's a Roxane.
