Peter Pan and Other Plays: The Admirable Crichton;&hellip by J. M. Barrie
Most plays are just dialogue with some sparse direction. These are fully fleshed out stories. Barrie puts as much or more in his setups and behind the scenes direction as into the spoken words. So much so that I've seen modern stage productions that create extra characters to utilize his brilliant parentheticals. Very worthwhile and enjoyable.
Dirk Gently: The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul by Douglas Adams
From the same producers as the final 3 Hitchhiker's audio adaptations, this is a full spectrum audio production. Close your eyes and you are there. It's TV without the bright lights - it's a movie in your head where the FX's will always be better. My one complaint is the not so subtle references to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy universe, that were not in the book. Otherwise, a masterful adaptation.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams
From the same producers as the final 3 Hitchhiker's audio adaptations, this is a full spectrum audio production. Close your eyes and you are there. I've listened to this a few times. I like to take it camping and listen on earphones as I wind down in the evening. It's TV without the bright lights - it's a movie in your head where the FX's will always be better.
