In My Own Words:
I read a tonne of stuff, but my favorites are probably classic Stephen King and anything by Kurt Vonnegut, excluding his leaden debut novel Player Piano.

Logan's Run is a fairly good SF tale, with an interesting premise and thoughtful ruminations on what the far-flung future of human society might be like. But really, the movie is most fascinating when you consider that it was the pinnacle of what science fiction films could achieve, until a punk named George Lucas turned everything on its head the very next year with Star Wars.
If you're interested in seeing the Last Day of SF movies before Luke and the gang changed things, take this one up the Carousel with you.

The rest is fleshed out by the screenwriters, and both they and the director do an admirable job maintaining an unsettling tone throughout. One might consider the source author and theme of the story and immediately think 1408 is a riff on or even a knock-off of King's The Shining, but it manages not to really raise the spectre of the previous work until the end. Probably the… Read more
