I was watching this thinking,"what could i possibly rent that is as thrilling, horrifying, interesting and plain moving" And it really happened. i was brought up in Europe so my history is a bit biased. Ferguson challenges most of it. i highly recommend this for anybody, old , young, educated or not.
I have watched this many times both in vhs and dvd. the production is a bit schlocky and overlaid with bad poetry and sonorous quotes repeated slowly to give more gravitas. BUT the story is so interesting, dramatic and in many ways still important in our lives that it should not be missed and is well worth buying and keeping, great gift. i live in vancouver (a century behind nyc) i still highly recommend this effort.
