Train Ultimate Sticker Book by DK

This series of sticker books is great for kids who like to have all the details about trains, airplanes, tractors, etc... My son will spend hours working through this book with us and always asks for more when we are finally done. He is a sponge for info on the vehicles he is interested in and this provides good content and interesting stickers. Good for some quality time spent reading, learning and with the added fun of putting the stickers into the right places.
Farewell to Shady Glade by Bill Peet
This book is Bill Peet at his best, in our opinion. We LOVE this book. I have a completely tattered hard cover copy from the late sixties still hanging around but bought my kids a more user friendly model. We definitely recommend this as having great, engaging pictures, a great storyline, as well as thought provoking scenes on the use of the environment and the effects of urban sprawl. The latter is a complete sideline that I highly doubt I took in as a kid, but now that I am older I am sure it had an impact on how I thought about the world. Love this book. Can't say that enough. My 4 1/2 year old son agrees and so do the many friends we have given this to over the past year.

This is definitely a kid sized pocket book. Very tiny. I keep it in my purse though and it sure comes in handy when the restaurant takes a while to bring food or we have an unexpected wait. Too small to enjoy at home though when you want to have good sized pictures to look at.
