What I expected was a step-by-step book that got into the basics of building model aircraft. What I got was a collection of articles, some of them old, from Model Airplane News magazine. The articles are tips, organized by chapter on various topics, like "wing building," "building tools," etc.

While some of the tips were useful, I think the title is misleading. Many of the articles weren't building techniques at all. And I was disappointed after reading it that I still didn't have a good feel as to what it takes to build a quality model airplane.

Its an ok book for some of the tips, but don't buy it expecting a "how-to" book on building a model airplane.

Very useful information. The section on covering was a real lifesaver! It has good info also on basic flight and lots of useful tips to a beginning modeler. I really liked this book.

The only reason I didn't give it five stars was I felt it didn't quite cover the topics in quite enough depth. A little more detail and this would be a perfect book.

But still very worth the money.

I don't usually write reviews, but I'm gonna have to go against the crowd on this one. I bought this book based on the 5 star reviews and was a little disappointed. Its not a bad book, but most of it is a collection of articles about different types of flying, like combat, sail planes, scales, etc. There's a little info on basic flying and some very limited info on some basic aerobatics, and that's it.

If you're getting started in R/C and looking for some good basic flight instruction, plus some other useful tips, I MUCH preferred "Getting Started in Radio Control Airplanes" by Yarrish. It has as much flight instruction as this one, plus some useful info on model building,… Read more
