I had this recording first on vinyl then as a tape and now a CD. After recently reading Daniel Lanois book Soul Mining (which I highly recommend) I had to have more! And though I still have the vinyl and the capacity to play them alas its true...... the CD is more versatile. A must have if you're a Daniel Lanois fan or..... not! start with this one.
Sonics and the art of sound is what Daniel Lanois breathes to live. And when he is producing a record for an artist he immerses himself in it like a relationship. His work with Bob Dylan becomes heart wrenching but not sentimental. His love for architecture and his own music with his beautiful Acadie all shine with the light of a man who is living his passion.
This is an interesting collection of information regarding not only the Russian star of the NHL right now but the history of Russian hockey from then... Russia versus Canada 1969 till now, which is Ovechkin inside the NHL. I liked this book. Its authors more concerned with the story they wanted to write than just media hype to sell a book about Ovechkin. I am a big fan of number 8 and now even more so. And I would seek out more work from these authors too.
