Betty Crocker's Picture Cookbook by Betty Crocker Editors
5.0 out of 5 stars Best all-around cookbook, Jan. 11 2014
The Betty Crocker's Picture Cook Book is absolutely the best all-around cookbook in the kitchen. I learned to cook from this cookbook over 40 years ago and have continued to use this cookbook as it offers good basic recipes. The directions are easy-to-read too. One of my favorite likes about this cookbook is the recipe format. You are offered a "key" recipe with variations. Not only does this teach you how to cook, but it also allows plenty of recipes to be included in a minimal amount of space.

If you love to bake, as I do, you will love the Betty Crocker's Picture Cook Book, as both the cake and pie recipes include size variations. The cake recipes usually include recipes for… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this newest edition, Oct. 18 2013
I was very pleased with this newest version of the "Big Red" cookbook as some of the old stand-by recipes were found along with plenty of updated or modern recipes including Chicken Korma or Chicken Tagine. You will also find some familiar comfort foods such as Chicken Pot Pie (with a lighter version recipe included) or Chicken and Dumplings. Beef recipes include Caramelized Beef Pot Roast, Meatballs or Meat Loaf.

There are specific chapters dealing with Grilling, Breakfast and Brunch, Slow Cooker, Vegetarian and a chapter offering recipes that can be prepared within 20 minutes or less.

With each chapter there are detailed photos showing select food products comparing… Read more
Canadian Living Cookbook by Carol Ferguson
Canadian Living Cookbook by Carol Ferguson
As an American I wanted to learn more about Canada so I purchased a copy of Canadian Living magazine back in the early 1980s. I loved what I read so I subscribed. Later I purchased the Canadian Living Cookbook and I learned more about Canada. I made scones, lemon curd and Maid of Honor Tarts from recipes found in this cookbook. All were served for afternoon tea and were well received. You can tell these recipes were tested until perfect and they are dependable.

In fact, almost every recipe prepared from this cookbook has been a keeper. By-the-way the recipes work with US cups and measures as I don't have the Canadian equivalents.

Highly recommend.
