I had been a Soft Machine fan for 25 years before I stumbled upon a YouTube video of "Hazard Profile". For approximately 12 seconds I knitted the old eyebrows and watched/listened to the very young man who sort of reminded me of Allan Holdsworth. . . . . Then the solo began . . . . . I must have had a seizure because I remember nothing of my surroundings for the duration of Allan's solo - only the solo itself, and not even so much the solo as the interstellar rocket powered roller-coaster ride it dragged me on . . . .
