Most of this album sounds like STP, which is a good thing, 'cos I never cared for G'n'R in the slightest. A couple of tracks are very similar to Weiland's compositions on STP albums. There is a song that sounds just like "Unglued" from 12 Gracious Melodies. People who liked the first 3 or 4 STP, before they got a bit too slow, glitzy and moody will like this one.
Hard-rocking riffs, planely sung with interesting choruses. That's Weilands' music. The guitars are a little more impressive, 'cos there are 2 of them! The songs are a little faster than STP, and there are only a couple of slow ballads.
Overall the music is tightly played but nothing new or groundbreaking,… Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars No, No, No, No, NO!, June 9 2004
I agree with the comparison with the Troma films. Although BHT looks bigger budget, and isn't as funny.
The plot is absurd, but not compellingly so. The Mummy sequences are low-rez FX. Ossie Davis acts like a pudding (a very dense, flavorless pudding). The action/development of the plot is achingly slow, and has little or no dramatic payoff.
The only good(?) thing is Campbell's interpretation of Elvis, which is truly excellent. But then, I'm not a big Elvis fan, so...
Campbell should have waited for, or wrote his own script for, a really good, new Elvis biography movie (it could have been released posthumously!) and it would have been a huge smash. But he wasted it on… Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Doc playes Banjo?, June 3 2004
But he's not nearly as good on that instrument as he is on guitar. The second, live part on this CD is not well recorded, and includes a lot of banjo playing. Doc is a little scrappy on banjo, missing quite a few notes. His vocals are perfectly laid back, as usual. The first collection is quite a bit superior, including Tom Dooley, Beaumont Rag.
The album I would recommend to newcomers is "Southbound", which earns 5 stars.
