I don't believe that Wagner's music and Tennstedt's conduction need my praise, so I will get right into what's important: the recording.
Judging the disc by its fancy packaging I expected this to be a fresh, crisp sounding record; however, I was disappointed. Most of the music is inaudible. If you have an equalizer on your record player, you will notice that the bars hardly show up at all. This makes it necessary to crank up the volume to high levels (even the maximum). If you have an old or inferior record player, you might not be able to hear it even at the highest volume level. What makes the recording even worse is that the volume is inconsistent.
