The other reviews listed really get into the plot of the story, so I'll stay away from that! What an engaging read. I was amazed at the truthfulness of the historical setting, the development of the characters was phenomenal, and Mr. Carr entranced me with his writing! I felt as if I was a member of their little group trying to discover the answers to their mystery. I had a really tough time putting this book down...I had to find out what happened next. I had to get all of Carr's other books!

I met Benjamin Zander several times, as the company I work for had him present at several leadership type meetings. He had a profound impact on my life. I went from thinking that I worked for an insurance company, to working for a company that helps to keep people healthy and living full lives. His ideas appear simple, almost child-like, yet they make total and complete sense in the big-bad grown-up world. Taking these simple steps lets you live a more joyous, purposfull life. I highly recommend this book, and if you ever get a chance to see Zander, whether conducting a symphony, or discussing his philosophy, please take the chance...it will be inspiring!

There are several movies that I don't understand how in the world people can dislike them. Training Day falls into my second category of Why do so many people love this film. Sure Denzel did a great job (I'm still not sure it deserved an Oscar Nomination...never mind the award). Ethan was a tremendous supporting actor...but the movie was just a series of yelling matches. What was the point of this film? Why was Denzel's character the way he was? There was just something totally missing here.
