In My Own Words:
I'm a technical writer in Pittsburgh, but my primary avocation is reading. I've been a bookworm since my mom taught me to read in 1973. I read as many as two-three books a day and have, though practice and maybe natural gifts, learned to read as quickly as anyone I've ever seen. I'm married to another bookworm, Greg Park, and between the two of us we spend far too much money on books. (Our boo… Read more

I searched out this album after hearing Kristen Vigard sing two marvelous songs on the "Grace of My Heart" soundtrack (and one in the movie that was covered on the ST by Elvis Costello -- I love him, but it sounds better sung by her).
The album is a mixed bag of styles, and some of the songs appeal to me more than others. My personal favorite is "The Announcement," a beautifully song bouncy little pop tune.
If you happen upon this album, I also HIGHLY recommend Kristen's work in "Grace of My Heart."

I found Vienna Teng from recommendations in the Sarah McLachlan area on Amazon. Comparisons to those like Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos are not unfair, and I feel confident that many of their fans would also very much like Vienna Teng.

There are some real clanker notes on 'The Tower," specifically (odd since it's the first track), and a few others later on. This tendency to be out-of-tune really bothered me and has detracted a great deal from my enjoyment of the album.
Still, I'm a musician and a singer with… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick Returns to Form!, May 12 2004
Fabulous! "Paid Companion" returns us to the Quick of old, giving us charming characters, a neat little suspense plot, and a wonderful happily-ever-after!
I wasn't as big a fan of the Lavinia/Tobias books as I had been of the majority of the earlier Quick efforts, so it was with some trepidation that I went out and paid an egregious sum for "Paid Companion!" Never fear! I devoured this one in one day! Elenora ranks up there with Harriet ("Ravished") and Emma ("I Thee Wed") as one of my favorite Quick heroines, and Arthur is honestly one of the more realistic, well-rounded heroes Quick has imagined.
I honestly found the supporting… Read more
