The Dirty Girls Social Club: A Novel by Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez
The Dirty Girls Social Club: A Novel by Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez
4.0 out of 5 stars Very good!, Nov 14 2003
I very much enjoyed "The Dirty Girls Social Club". I just happened to pick up this book at a book fair a while back and was instantly pulled into the lives of the "sucias". Each sucia tells parts of her life (and her friend's lives) from her own perspective. The sucias became friends while attending college in Boston. Every couple of months they meet up and catch up with each other's lives. The lives of Lauren, Usnavys, Sara, Rebecca, and Amber are all very interesting. Their lives are full of sorrow, pride, success, shame, joy, independence, and love - all the things that make a good read. The only thing I didn't like about this book was the character Amber. Wrong Turn
2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Spectacular, Oct 30 2003
I really had no interest in "Wrong Turn" when it came out because I thought it was just another movie about stupid teenagers who get hunted down and killed in the woods. Well, I was exactly right. Half Past Dead (Widescreen) DVD ~ Steven Seagal
Half Past Dead (Widescreen) DVD ~ Steven Seagal
2.0 out of 5 stars Annoying, Oct 27 2003
Now I understand why the critics did not think much of this film when it was released. "Half Past Dead" basically tells the story of the "new Alcatraz" in which one of the prisoners, who hides a secret worth millions, is going to be executed. Seems like a pretty decent storyline until the action starts happening. Morris Chestnut's and Nia Peeple's characters hold the prison hostage (as well as some very important figures there to witness the execution) hoping to get the very valuable secret out of the prisoner. Steven Seagal plays an undercover FBI agent who must fix the situation promptly with his bad acting a guns. Ja Rule makes an appearance as a prisoner as well as… Read more
