Ready for a trip down memory lane? Nouveaux shook CCM with their first release, Beginnings, with a sound that melded Def Leppard with Richard Marx, but with uplifting lyrics! CCM hadn't heard anything like it before and we loved it! The band reinvented itself into an acoustic rock band on its 2nd album, and things haven't been the same since. The irony is, this, their debut album, was by far their best. For fans of CCM (and Def Leppard), this is one comes highly recommended.

This review refers to the Audio book, masterfully read by David Ogden Stiers. A MAN IN FULL is a noteworthy work by Tom Wolfe that examines the core of true manliness in the modern world. While there's no swashbuckling, open-shirted flexing of pectorals, just watch as two men are pressed far beyond the breaking point of most - one maintains his honor at the ultimate cost, the other struggles mightily with folding his hand. Both rise from the ashes of their former lives in extraordinary form. Wolfe has a keen ability to delicately describe the intricacies of interpersonal interactions with delightful detail. To put this remarkable album in perspective, let me start by stating the entirety of my Spanish training came from Sesame Street. Marc Anthony could be singing about rings around the bathtub for all I know. But man, bathtub rings have never sounded better! In all seriousness, CONTRA LA CORRIENTE (which a Spanish-speaking friend translated for me as "Against the Flow") has become one of my favorite albums. It is a fine example of excellent composition, performance, and engineering, making for one outstanding sonic experience.
