The Lobotomy Club by Clifford A. Pickover
The Lobotomy Club by Clifford A. Pickover
I have finished The Lobotomy Club and Liquid Earth, two of the four books in Pickover's Neoreality series. I can't say which book I like better. The Lobotomy Club was cool. In this book, people perform brain surgery on themselves to allow them to see religious visions and a "truer" or "higher" reality. As they explore a world filled with monstrous Biblical visions, Adam, Sayori, and their friends encounter a vast conspiracy and hellish dangers. Number of the Beast by Robert A. Heinlein
5.0 out of 5 stars Parallel Universes, Aug 14 2002
In the Number of the Beast, a scientist builds a device that transports four people to parallel worlds. I enjoyed the adventure in the first half of the book better than the last half, but, as usual for Heinlein, he provides a novel rich in characters and ideas, thus making the reading very entertaining. I learned many new words from reading this book, like amphigory and floccinaucinihilipilification.
Job: Comedy of Justice by Robert A. Heinlein
Job: Comedy of Justice by Robert A. Heinlein
Job provides an excellent adventure in parallel worlds. The adventure starts on a cruise ship and soon takes you beyond Earth. Heinlein's characters are always a lot of fun, and the obstacles placed in their paths challenge both the characters and readers to persevere and "see what happens next." (People who like Job will also like Heinlein's Number of the Beast, Greg Egan's Diaspora, and Pickover's Liquid Earth and The Lobotomy Club.)
