History Greatest Hits ~ America
4.0 out of 5 stars Good But....., Dec 14 2003
The music is well chosen and fan's of America will like this cd.
My only problem is with the sound. I have to move my speakers 2 ft or so from the rear wall in order to enjoy this disc because the bass is very heavy. I have analyzed this recording with audio software and have found massive bass peaks in the actual recording itself. My speakers are normally placed 1 ft from the rear wall, but this disc has so much bass on some of the tracks like "Ventura Highway" I can't listen to it unless I cut the bass. This cd may have been reissued in different versions, so your disc may be different, but this is my experience with this album.
1965-1967 Original Singles ~ Byrds
First off, this cd may have been released in several versions, or also in a remastered edition. My version is Columbia CK 37335. The sound is simply dreadful. The music has been subjected to massive treble cuts in order to hide faulty source material on nearly all the tracks. The highs waver in and out on many of these tracks! The sound is unimaginably lifeless!! Too bad they didn't use better tape sources, or even the original vinyl on this one.
The Beatles 1 ~ Beatles
The Beatles 1 ~ Beatles
5.0 out of 5 stars Great, but...., Sept. 8 2003
This is a great collection of Beatles' music, and serves as a good introduction to the band for new fans. I prefer the sound of the Beatles' analog vinyl records, feeling that they have a greater openess and sense of space between the instruments than any of the issued cd's-as I often notice with Analog recordings vs. Digital ones.
