After the somewhat disappointing Feast for Crows I had my doubts about this book but they were soon settled as a Dance with Dragons goes back to the classic George RR Martin formula. The book is once again dominated by stunning set pieces, stylish political scheming and witty dwarfs.
My only gripe is that the book lacks a true climax and rather ends on a tremendous cliff hanger. On the other hand though, I suppose it sets up the next instalment perfectly. All in all, a definite must read!
