A good crisp album. John McLaughlin is still going strong and his 4th Dimension band makes great music. Having fusion overtones, there's not a bad track on the disc. A worthwhile purchase and addition to your collection. The title track is my favourite.
I first saw this 50's classic when I was about 12 and I felt very sad and shocked for 'Toro', who was an unknowing victim of the boxing industry. This movie doesn't gloss over the truth about the fight game in those days. This film was excellently done - showing all aspects of the business - Steiger's meanness, Toro's nieivity, Bogart's moral dilemma. Packed with excitement, you'll be on the edge of your seat willing Toro to win, but also seeing the hopelessness of his position.
This excellent compilation is a 'must have' for Weather Report fans, certainly for the DVD alone. The three CD's give a very good representation of music from the 'life' of Weather Report, but since I have almost all of that music, the real gem of this collection is the DVD, recorded in Offenbach Germany in 1978. Stellar performances of Weather Report standards from Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius and Peter Erskine keep you rivetted to the screen for 2 Hours. These guys were master musicians and some of the top of the Jazz Fusion class.
