I think Final Crisis is the best of Morrison's modern DC work. I do appreciate how it has frustrated other readers. I'm an older reader of comics and Morrison has dug deeply into the Fourth World of Jack Kirby for this story. If you haven't read that material, or even Kamandi, some of the concepts he's playing with, and the general overall subtly of the work, can be lost. That said, I was surprised by this series when I read it. It succeeds in capturing the dread of Darkseid's victory and I found myself brought to the edge of my seat on several occasions. This is a simply suburb rendition. Granted, I am the type of listener who prefers great acting over singing (at least with Wagner), so I don't quibble over who's the best Seigfried, and the performances on this Ring are uniformly outstanding to my ear, especially Graham Clarke. The orchestra is always thrilling. I did copious research before buying this Ring and have never regretted it. What is truly remarkable is the price of this box set.
