In My Own Words:
I'm a great fan of good historical romance fiction, but also a very critical reader, and my reviews will reflect this. I don't write reviews professionally, so I have no axe to grind and no employer/publisher to satisfy - everything I write is my gut reaction to what I've read. I'm also very fussy when it comes to the content of books: good spelling and grammar are musts and the absence of this wi… Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, lovely graphics... appalling execution, Jun 7 2010
I love the idea of this poster. I love the design and the images. But the list itself... dreadful. It's full of grammatical errors and missing words, to start with; a sample:

- A Sontarans weak point is the back of it's neck

- Upward rain means that you could about to take an unplanned journey

And Timelord instead of Time Lord!

Plus the points themselves are all rather boring, instead of going for the humour so typical of the series.

Such a shame - I would have loved this if it was actually, you know... done well.
1.0 out of 5 stars Nice clock, shame about the customer service, April 24 2010
I like the clock. It's cute. But the company that supplies it is not.

My clock - ordered for me as a gift - arrived with one hand detached. The clock was in a tight-fitting cardboard box with a limited amount of packaging. I emailed Optimum about the detached hand. Their reply was as follows:

>>>I am sorry the clock arrived damaged, It was checked before
it left here, so it must have been roughly handled in the
mail. I will gladly send you a replacement clock at no
charge including shipping, once you return the damaged clock
to us, but the cost of return shipping is your
responsibility as per our return policy<<<

Twist Of Fate by Mary Putney
Val Covington, a workaholic city lawyer, decides to break away from her corporate law fim and start her own practice; a windfall from her actor friend Raine Marlowe allows her to decide that she will take on pro bono clients. In leasing her first premises, she meets good-looking Rob Smith, ostensibly a carpenter, and they start an affair. But Rob is not the carpenter he appears; he's a former Marine and former owner of his own computer business, gone into hiding after a family tragedy. They start to work together when Rob offers his investigative skills to help Val in her quest to prove a man on death row innocent of the murder of a cop.

The romance in this book is very flat. Val and Rob… Read more
