While the film itself is absolutely brilliant, 'Shadow of a Doubt' loses a star for being a disappointing DVD. Considering this film was always hailed as being Hitchcock's favorite, I'm really surprised that Universal didn't roll out the red carpet when it came to the disc's bonus features.
I completely expected to see the same TLC that made the 'Rear Window', 'Vertigo', and 'Psycho' DVDs such an education to watch. Instead Universal didn't even seem to think 'Shadow of a Doubt' warranted a simple wide-screen format.

When people say that, it's usually meant to be somewhat encouraging. The point of the saying being that tomorrow is a new day. I'm not sure that people consider EXACTLY how painful that life "going on" can be. This film explores that.
It's a film about how 3 different people, all connected in some way to a tragic car accident, deal with the guilt and pain of their lives continuing to move forward ... even when they can't bring themselves to move along with it.

While the film speaks for itself, the thing I wanted to point out was the DVD. The extra features are REALLY thin. The meat of it being 2 documentaries that I had already seen on cable.
At this point, I would be inclined to just rent this edition and save my money for the extended edition that's coming out before Christmas. Sorry Amazon, there just no reason to spring 18 bucks to buy this when for another ten dollars I can increase my content by ten-fold ...
