In My Own Words:
I love all kinds of music, but I take in a steady diet of Prince, hip-hop, jazz, and old school (60's-70's soul, disco, funk, and pop). I am also a big movie fan. Being a child of the 70's, the Star Wars and Godfather series are my favorites, but I enjoy all types of flicks, from classic black and whites to the new independent movies, and everything else in between. I read almost exclusively non-fiction. I frequent the review section of Amazon because it allows me to express myself in a creative fashion about the different records, movies, and books I have experienced, with the hopes that readers will try them. I also love to read other reviews from people with similar interests.
Peace.

So "Under the Cherry Moon" is a sinfully self-indulgent movie built around a self-indulgent, narcissistic but supremely talented and charismatic star. That being said, it's a thoroughly enjoyable movie, particularly for loyal Prince fans like myself. The cinematography of this movie is more beautiful with each viewing. It's also very funny (most times, where it's supposed to be). "Horace Silver Trio" is a taut, expertly-paced and plain fun CD for any music collection. But for jazz lovers, this set features two of the architects of "hard bop": Horace Silver and Art Blakey. My favorite tracks are the wonderful "Yeah" and exquisite "Knowledge Box." This set serves as a great introduction to Horace Silver, a true jazz legend. This is a great collection at a good price. Also check out "Blowin' The Blues Away," "Six Pieces of Silver" and "Song For My Father."

Me'Shell Ndegeocello is making a good case that she is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, artists of her generation. In her past albums, she has shown an ability to reinterpret blues, jazz and soul by blending it into a distinct sound. Me'Shell follows the phenomenal "Bitter" with "Cookie": a fun record employing several types of sounds -- Rock, blues, hip-hop and soul -- that somehow all fit together nicely. While the album contains a lot of sultry ballads ("Criterion"), songs within the "Bitter" vein of love and loss ("Earth"), Ndegeocello also hits hard with "statement songs" like "Dead Nigga Blvd." "Hot Night," and "Pocketbook." In many ways, it is an "anthropoligical… Read more
